Kale, the Breakfast of Champions
Every morning without fail
I make a smoothie out of kale
Surprisingly enough, it tastes good.
With chia seeds, some frozen berries
Fresh bananas and black cherries
Add protein and fiber like I should
Blend it up with ice and water
Serve it to my son and daughter
In a twenty-four ounce plastic cup
Smiling, while through straws they're drinking
Never given pause for thinking
That it's kale that they are drinking up.

Note: this leaf went straight into the blender after posing for this photograph.
